i would change the rollers as they are probaly on there way out.and if one fails it could be costly.the traders on here can supply them cheaper than that.as for the vtc hubs, replace the springs under the caps as this is the most common cause of the annoying rattle from the valvetrain at 3000rpm.

buy a kit from one of the traders it will work out much cheaper. you get iirc

genuine nissan parts

2 x belt idlers

1x tensioner

belt

2x cam springs

o rings

gaskets

water pump

may need additional belt idler

Nissan recommends the idlers be replaced at 120k miles. Contact MJP in traders section http://www.mjpauto.com

rollers are origonal so even though they have done only 60k have beed sat sround for 14 years so i suppose its peace of mind?

can anyone enlighten me on the cam springs etc as i have not heard of these before???

they are for the vvt (variable valve timing) they sit on the two inlet camshafts and stop them having free play . if you have a rattle from the top end i could be due to the cam springs .

take off cover to timing belts you will see two of the camshafts have end plates held in place by screws remove them carefully as the spring is held in place by these retainers.

replace and reassemble.
