hi guys

on friday i removed engine then yesterday carried out a total externall strip of engine back to bare head and block assembly so i can check everything and replace all seals gaskets and common parts!!

1. what do the numbers 3A mean stamped on each of my heads on the lip where cam cover is fitted?

2. im removing aircon as i dont use it and am going for perfomance instead of luxury! can i remove electric fan assembly? or is it used as additional cooling when viscous cant cope?

3, viscous fans are load bearing andf can slow down warm up temp,s so would it be a good idea to remove it and fit large race fan to front of radiator to give better work space under bonnet?

4, are lightened crank pulleys a good way to go?? engine has done 60.000 miles and on inspection is excellant through out! if pulley good way to go can you get ones for without air-con or do i just leave that belt of??

that is all for now but im shore ill think of some more questions soon!!!

any help gratefully recieved!

regards steven

1, sorry i dunno, i never get that involved in an engine, lol

2. Elec Sub fan is used when engine detects problems and if viscous can't cope.

3. Yes, though some will disagree, usually those who ain't done it !

4. Yes and just leave the belt off.

thanks for the help!

so if i remove air con condersor radiator, elec fan wont sit close enough to coolant rad so i would be better fitting aftermarket large fan and removing viscous??

if i fitted elec fan to front of rad that would leave space free to refit viscous if ever required!!!

has any one ever thought of fitting small fans to oil and auto box coolers? you could tie them in so came on with elec fan?? dont know if fans used for stereo builds would be powerfull enough??? there about 3inch x 3inch??
