JUST GOT HOME FROM REMOVING MY ENGINE THIS EVENING!! :nana2:

spoke to my local very good nissan dealer (unusual i know)

about supplying det sensor and was quoted 175 for it! is this right, if so is there anywhere cheaper to buy proper one?

also they are having a problem finding wiring loom to sensor on micro-fiche,

does anyone have part no for loom and approx price??

what torque setting should sensor bolt be as i understand too tight or loose will cause sensor to read wrong??

regards steven

SWZ performance - Det sensor is £120 and the harness is £22

You can bodge the sensor with a resistor for a couple of pence ;)

Do a search on here, I can't remember the value you need.

It's a 1M ohm. 9p from Maplin ;)

Hope he hasn't just stripped his engine for this... :D

no i wouldnt remove engine to fit det sensor!!! :slap:

why would you want to bodge sensor???

Its a popular option to bypass the det sensor, to save on the 10+ hours labour (+£150 parts) involved in replacing it.

Quite a common failure, and since the det sensor only works below 3k rpm (and det is more likely to occur at higher revs) its use is limited anyway.

so you dont have to remove the engine!

Al you got done mate, i got one from maplins for 7p!

to make clear i did not remove engine to peplace sensor!!!!!

i have engine out to replace feed pipes to my t28 hybrid's,

fit 555 mismo injectors and port exhaust manifolds etc

whilst out i am removing all excess equipment i.e egr set up etc including air-con!!

i have been advised to change knock sensor and loom even though i dont have problem with it!!

i assume det sensor stil works with modded chip??

if i fit knock monitor display will it still control ecu as well??

what is knock sensor torque setting??

i have bypassed mine. TBH its not that great & stock det sensors are only designed to cope with poor fuel - not upping your boost to 1 bar+!

id look into replacing it then getting a knock link - much better idea IMO & is what i plan to do when i pull my engine
