Band A, which would be free, would consist of electric cars, while vehicles covered under band G would include petrol 4x4s, the Jaguar X-type and the Renault Espace people carrier.

some new idea from richmond council to make folks pay more for parking based on car type...its big news on the BBC web site

the thing that irks me seeing as i have 4 kids and a people carrier is its far more efficient to have a 7 seater car full than a smart car with 1 yoghurt knitting, eco friendly tree-hugging i collect my own f@rts for central heating kind of liberal....who will then no-doubt after parking for free jet off to a far flung country after an evening drinking imported wine and cocaine from south america....talk about food miles and hypocracy

rant over to you lot now

Higher parking for people carriers? you mean those cars they encourage us to 'car pool' in to cut down on congestion and pollution? Also wtf are they doing making electric cars exempt? they may not produce the pollution themselves but the process of generating electricity to put in them generates more pollution than if they were just petrol powered.

in some ways it'll be quite positive as i could then pick up a bargain mpv or 4X4 off some west london driver who needs to get shot of it quick...:)
