My heater matrix has been wetting my feet today :hurl: :nana2:

Where's the best place to get one and how much?

Will be fitting it myself :( :nono:

KrysMayo did his own last week, used a matrix from a Primera, you do have to modify the box which holds it (which means dash out), but it all fits fine. Think he said it was under £70.

Might have to bypass it until I get the parts but I don't think winter without a heater will be much fun.

I can imagine the fun of clearing a frozen windscreen!

Will find out about that Primera matrix, cheers!

duffers is meant to be having my old one but if he doesnt you can have it if you want chris

It is a job to take the dash out so take your time. I spent at least an afternoon and the next day replaced the heater core and valve. The valve is what was leaking. I recommend planning a day if you have never removed the dash before because of the old plastic and number of screws needing removal. Also, since you will probably remove the hoses at the firewall just buy them now as it will make the job much quicker. In the mean time just do the bypass .... that coolant doesn't need to be in the car and you don't need to be inhaling the steam from it. When animals drink it it kills them causing kidney and other organ failure.

That would be great Mike :)

I'm absolutely broke at the moment so it all helps.

I'd usually only fit new parts but I really can't afford this right now.

The steam is nasty stuff - it's left a white coating over all my windows just getting home today.

Chris just to let you know , if yours in a manual you have probs getting the heater matrix out with the dash in, the clutch and clutch booster get in the way , i tryed to get the clutch pedal out with the dash in and gave up

I've had a fair bit of the dash out before various times and I did the manual conversion myself so I know what it's like under there :(

How easy was the Primera matrix to fit and how much was it?

I'd much rather fit a new part if it's cheap and not have to do the same job twice.

got the rad from a place called Aaron Radiator Co.Ltd 02072630603 cost me £71 all in and came with new seals(part no DN6139 for a MK1 nissan Primara) the new matrix is 4mm wider, the heater box was modded with a hacksaw and some side cutters, give us a buzz if you need more info 07739576906

And i'd like to add that this whole process is HELL

Took me and kierash three days to change but its defo worth it when u think the nissan one is almost identical (apart form the fact its made of tin foil and WILL go again if you don't change the antifreeze every ten minutes) and its a 3rd of the price!

Good luck guys..i feel your pain.

Oh and when mine went, it got to -8 degrees C in the car and started freezing my breath to the windscreen due to the fact that the zeds always let fresh air through the system (or at least mine does) so for your own sake don't bypass it!!!

Good luck

So is the heating performance still as good with the primera unit?

Presume it is if it's bigger but depends on the construction.

yeah it works fine, infact i think its better as the flow throught it looks better due to slightly bigger slots
