Is that your engine out or just a general pic?

It might be possible to change them but I doubt it with the engine in place...

They're just your standard water/fuel pipe stuff.

Do a search on "water bypass" etc and you'll find a load of info on taking the plenum off and removing loads of those pipes that aren't really needed.

Depends if you're just wanting to patch it up but I'd suggest doing the water bypass if the engine is out - will save lots of problems in the future.

Just a general picture of where the problem is. I know of the water by pass and I'll do that at a later date when I've 100% at what I'm doing, though gonna practice on my old Z! Just need to know what size they are so I dont go pulling them out only to find out I dont have the right size hose to replace them with!

Was just borrowing your picture as it was the best one I can find! What the hell happened to it?

LOL no probs you borrowing the picture bud!!!

Erm, car was stripped down after doing the bottom end, then ex boss thought he'd make a few pennies by selling all the bits... Carbon clutch.. 850cc injectors and intake... radiator... prop.. ecu... tv screen from dash... turbo timer... LOADS more :(

That's a bit of a piss take. You managed to recope the money from the a$$?

Hey Andy, I've got your bonnet stay and radiator bracket!

Johnny took it off yours as he'd lost mine and I noticed before driving it off with nothing holding the rad in place and having to support the bonnet on my head.

Didn't think you'd mind as your car was a shell by that stage :(

That was at the same time as noticing my windscreen had a 10 inch crack across it that they reckoned was there when i brought it in - a YEAR before... :xxx:

 LOL yeah mine came back with a crack in it too  If Hom had done what he did, in his own country, he'd have his ****in hands chopped off!!!!! I must have someone elses bonnet stay then cos thats one of the only things it DID come back with  Johnny even had to stop him pissing in my fuel tank :mac1: No doubt he prolly did it anyway when no one else was around :xxx: Wonder if its worth getting the petty tested for his DNA? That would be a good character witness for him in court now wouldn't it  Grrrrrrrrr gettin mad now :(

He offered me a windscreen off someone elses car but as it was probably nicked and I'd have to pay someone to fit it I just claimed on my insurance for £50.

We should track them both down and get their DNA on my tyres

Johnny even had the cheek to have a go at me for bringing my car to him in the first place - he offered to do the work, I didn't make him do it!?!?! LOL

He thought I was nagging and moaning because I rang him about twice a week for 3 or 4 months... if he'd answered the phone and not got one of his muppets to tell me bullshit about him not being in/available and nobody knowing what state my car was in every time I wouldn't have had to.

Was getting an answer twice in maybe 30 phone calls excessive?

Took 6 months to tell me some of the parts were missing from the service kit I supplied (doubt that now anyway) and tried to charge me for replacements.

The list goes on and on....

Still smoking like feck on idle after a thrash and clouds of carbon on full throttle even after the turbo re-con but it goes so that's all that matters for now :)

FFS :( To be fair Johnny was under a lot of pressure from Hom to BS - Hom had total control over the business as it was his 'money' running it. What money? I didn't get paid for 5 of the months I worked there - hence not going back after xmas! Promised every time that when x car goes out I'd get my money... never saw a penny after july :mac1: Also still owed from bills I paid for them - must be about £22k out of pocket thanks to that little venture... Gonna be funny when the tax man finds out all the money went through hom's personal bank account tho  LOL when hom went away to dubai, he rang customers before he went to tell them not to bring any money when they collected the car - just wait for him to get back and give it straight to him :xxx: Thats why I ended up paying the rent on the unit for them TWICE!!!! More fool me. My time will come tho - Hom if you're reading this may I suggest you leave the country before all your unhappy customers and unhappy ex employees track you down - you'll certainly be getting a visit from the police about my missing parts!!!!!

I heard some of the story but didn't realise it was that bad Andy :(

I even had to talk their new mechanic through putting my own engine back together as he'd never seen one before!

The only reason I went there was he'd ripped me off fitting clutch so agreed to do the rebuild for a knock down price.

He charged me 7 hours for fitting a clutch which took 2.5 hours with me helping!

£750 quid inc a 2nd hand clutch off MarkZX's car!

I'd have argued more if the bank manager hadn't been in the office.

Told him on 2 occasions I was coming with a truck to take the car and engine parts away, including turning up with Mac and 3 others from the forum after the phones were cut off and he wouldn't answer his mobile.

Wasted a years insurance and tax and had to buy another car - so much for his cheap job that I said he could take his time over...

He certainly did.

Was told it wasn't their fault my car took a year, it's because they didn't have a mechanic.

A garage without a mechanic for 5 months and it's not their fault... hmmm! LOL

Can you guess why they didn't have a mechanic? ;) Well I already told you lol. I really do hope that the saga with GPS has NO reflection on me! I take a lot of pride in my work but I feel its gonna take some time to get my rep back now :(

Well I know it wasn't your fault and GPS told me all sorts of crap, but if they weren't paying you then what do they expect.

I used to get some good deals off Johnny years ago and thought he was a mate but I think he got in such a mess with the business he had no choice but to rip people off and swap/sell peoples parts to keep going.

I won't be dealing with any traders on here again as it's happened on 3 occasions now I've lost hundreds of pounds spent with amateurs.

8MM BORE, Replace them with good quality silicon hose and s/steel jublie clips/

Cheers for that! Hopefully it aint going to be too difficult of a job!

Well its really strange that all these stories where told to me by Johnny when my car languished there for 11 months. Only all the people who where ripping him of had different names and different mechanics. No Doubt he slated Chris Noonan as being the problem and for ripping him off. Well i know he paid the rent there as well and didn't get paid for 3 months. Which is why he took the Snap-on ramp. which johnny was abliging with yet I heard roumers that he said Chris nicked it and loads of stuff. Lets face it you can pic em up in machine mart for £500. I know those roumers are untrue as do I know that the story of Mark the lad with the silver Z that supposedly had johnny beat up then gave him £5 is untrue.

Then of course when a Carbon Carbon clutch and Tommy stroker kit belonging to a customer with a Black 200SX went missing etc it was one of Johnny's ex employees, who he'd be slating for 9 months and claiming he'd ripped him off buy taking £2500 cash from a customer for a job hence sacked, but then Johnny supposedly had let him use his garage over the weekend and he must have nicked em for his 200.  Please. I think that was when Johnny was looking out the round window

Then there's the suposedly new clutch he charge me £450 for and the new Flywheel another £400 which Chris Noonan months later said "I wondered why you where having a secondhand clutch?" when I said I didn't he then told me that I had because it came from the car they got that I had the springs and shocks from. I paid Johnny £250 for new Blitz springs £370 for new Koni ajustables too.

Its taken A full year and had to replace every part that lying toe rag ever supplied because they weren't new bits apart from springs and shock (changing late this year for Ground control coilovers) as payed for but fooked secondhand crap. Then there are the parts I supplied that never ended up in my car. If anyone here knows where Johnny's old wide arch Zed now resides I would verymuch like to know if it has the same engine number as my missing rebuilt engine with Fordged pistons. Because the one phil a C & S wood took out is not the one I bought and took to GPS, does not have fordged pistons, new belt pullies and shit loads more bits that I supplied for it. I'm lucky they were my Turbo's

Oh yes on top of all this durring the first few months my car was there I introduced him to a friend of mine who builds exhaust systems. Johnny had him make a full custom system for a R33 GTR. Special inocol Maniforls to carry the big Porsche Turbo's the full system right to tail pipes. He promised to pay when customer came for his car. He then told Leon that they didn't fit even thogh Leon built it on a R33GTR that belongs to another friend.

So leon said no probs I'll come and take mesurement and alter.

Johnny said no we've sent them to another work shop to be altered. Rightly so Leon said No you cannot do that and you haven't paid for them I'll come and get them back. He never did, because they weren't there and Johnny would answer thw phone etc.

We later found out Hom had sent them to Dubi to have them coppied.

Then I still hear people saying well it wasn't Johnny. It was the Greek guy, it was the guy who worked in the office, it was Chris Noolan, it was bla bla. It was his business he was in charge and he told lie after lie to me. If anyones DNA is in Your petrol tank Duffer, I bet it Johnny's.

I wouldn't pi55 on Johnny if he was on Fire. The only reason I don't tell Chris Noolan the lying crap I've heard thats been said about him Visa Vee Johnny and Grass Hopper is that I'm sure Chris would Kill him

I know the engine in Johnny's old car mark and it certainly don't have forged pistons... GPS should have stayed as a part supplier and stuck to that. It all went downhill when the workshop was opened....

LOL it was gonna be said sooner or later :) Sorry for ruining the thread

It's fine, just a little bit of history! Could learn a few things from stories like that! Already started on the nice job and realised I cant get my fingers down there... so though I might as well do a full plenum pull. Only my back, legs and arms hurts now and the ******* still doesnt wanna come off!

One thing I have noticed is that there's some funny dirty yellow/brown coloured dust in the cylinder nearest to the driver seat. I take it that's from the result of that side of the engine not getting any coolant?

My god what have I started!

Sorry mate my GPS radar goes to system red every time I hear his name.

it was a £9K learning expirience. The best way ro get to those pipes is to remove the plenum. I found (having had to remove my plenum a few times now) that a a couplr of raps with a rubber mallet brakes the seal. A wollop from each side once the bolts down the centre and the 2 side plates are removed.

Prob will need a rubber mallet soon to whack the thing when I'm pissed off! At least it'll do less damage that way! Pretty much unbolted everything, or at least I think I have. Still wont come off though! :headvswal Gonna call it a day today and try again tomorrow.

Take a look in the FAQ section - pretty sure i did a write up on removing the plenum a few years ago :)

  • Author
Definetly did all that! Figured out why it doesnt seem to wanna come off. There's some sort of gasket sealant on the middle section! And it looks a pretty colour black. Anyone know of a way of getting that crap off? Haaa, prob a heat gun I take it....!

Fookin ell! That sounds like a load of people where ripped off big time! I remember Johnny when he was just selling parts....Supplied Phil at C&S Wood with a dented exhaust that fortunately I hadnt paid for so it got sent back - If I'd paid for it I bet he'd have blamed me for denting it!
