My recently acquired 92TT Z suffered from a NS rear wheel hop over bumps. I felt that the shockers were due replacing so got new stock ones. Since I never yet found any way to adjust the shockers I assumed that they were non adjust type. Today when I tried to do it I was quite surprised to find actuators on the tops. My NS one had the actuator wire just dangling loose. So methinks they are not used, just the wiring loom in place. Then I find the other one definitely attached to something. Could it be that whoever fitted the alarm sensor on the window maybe pulled apart the connector accidentally. Anyhow the manual waffles on about a diagnostic where you check bounce resistance. The shocks are supposed to go stiff with the handbrake on. Maybe I'm thick but it does not seem too clever to drive with the handbrake on. Anybody explain this for me please? Does this explain the soft shock on the NS?

You're in luck! Was out in my car this morning with a guy in the know. My car flicks it's arse out when going over minor bumps at speed. The faster, the scarier! Feels like you're going to go sideways into something with Uri Geller metal bending powers.

Anyway, contrary to what one Nissan geezer told me, this is NOT supposed to happen and is NOT normal, as I was made to believe "Yeah mate, they all do that...it's the HICAS!", yeah cheers. I've been told that my NS shock is "Soft" and needs replacing. He also mentioned putting the handbrake up one click. This apparently, as you correctly said, stiffens the shocks. I'm going to get mine replaced asap. Hope this helps!

Finished the job today and she now feels like a new car with 4 wheels on the road all the time. And I checked out the actuators. The Rear shocks do stiffen up when the hand brake light is on. So one notch up light on and you have a very stiff rear end! Might be useful for you lads who like to let rip from the lights. TTs do have electrically adjustable rears. I bet not a lot of people know that as Michael Caine would say.

So do aftermarket shox have this electric thingy on them as I will be looking for some at a later date
