Just recently started to trace my family tree/ancestory. well I never imagined it would be so bloody hard. I am using the genes reunited site and to be honest its very good. If you have done this already i could do with some CONSTRUCTIVE tips LOL. :p

I added my wifes mother and father with her mums maiden name (it works better with as many names as you can get) within 2 days I had a message from someone who has her family name and they have been researching for about 2 years now and have traced the family name back to the 1700's WOW! So I am dedicating a bit more time for her at the mo to get her side joined to the already very extensive tree from her distant relations.

 

It sounds boring i spose But believe me its quite interesting.

My Mo in laws great grand parents had 14 kids. 6 died from TB in the mid 1800's but even if you think you have an idea of the size it can branch out. Until you actually see it, it can completely blow your mind. Hundreds just hundreds of members in just 5 generations. Now being the 5th from the affore mentioned 14 kids as Sue my Mo in law being a grand mother. :confused:

Have traced my Father's side right back to the 1500s. Can't really do my Mother's side as they're all Hungarians.

ex mother-in-law started doing hers a few years ago as far as i know she still doing it it helps if you can get hold any old sensus's

my uncle traced that side of the family and found italian royalty :shock:

I found my dad after 33 years by going to the registry office in Scotland and putting an advert in the daily newspaper. I added a lot of info from ancestry.co.uk...

cant be arsed to do mine.. my mothers side is italian, and my fathers side are all lineage and snobs, blue blood all the way back, i have no interest in that side of the family, my fathers father is still a lord though, my father gets the peerage passed to him at some point, my brother doesnt want it and neither do i.

She has been looking for the names Jones and Evans and has done quite well so far, bores me to sleep
