my car is running in safety mode

i have done an ecu check and has come up code 13 water temp sensor

im going to replace this 2day but i also have a prob with the car idle sometimes when started or sitting in traffic the car runs between 1000/1800 rpm almost like the throttle is sticking could this be the sensor on the passenger throttle bodie ????? any suggestions can it be cleaned or am i better off just replacing????

any ideas on cost or where to get one thanx

I'd wait until you've replaced the water sensor and see what's happened.

Your throttle won't be sticking but do a search for TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) and you'll find how to test and reset it.

You could have a problem with the idle valve which might need tweeking but see how the water sensor goes first.

Normally when it's code 13 it's a bad connection, but good idea to replace with new sensor as they are not expensive.

When your ECU sences a faulty CTS (coolant temp sensor) is will affect your idle. I'm sure once you install the new sensor your idle problems will disappear (remember to reset ECU ;))

pull the yellow connector off its on the top metal water hose that goes into the engine thats the 1 that goes to the ecu, you might find its got corrosion if its green inside, clean it with a bit of emery cloth or fine wet and dry should sort your problem out its pretty common
