On the way home from work, the car started misfiring, and the cat warning light kept periodically coming on for a couple of seconds, then went off again, it did this about 6 or 7 times.

When I arrived home, I found that 2 of the coilpack connectors were loose, could this be connected? or is it something more serious?

Please help.

Scotty

Because those cylinders were not firing, the unburnt fuel was going straight down the exhaust where the cats were trying to burn it off. This chemical reaction creates a lot of heat hence the overheat light. As long as you don't continue to run it like this it will be fine.
