Urgent Help needed with blending sideskirts!!!

My car is in the body shop at the mo having a few little touches done to it here and there.

I have decided I want my Greddy sideskirts blended in.

I have just been to see the car and have been told there will be some issues with the blending into the front wings.

Because the fronts of the Greddy skirts protrude out quite a bit it means the wings need to be built out. However once this is done it will not match up at all with the door. Now if the door is built out as well to match up then there will not be enough room for the door to open.

Maybe this is just an issue with the shape of the Greddy's?

Did anyone encounter a similar problem when they had their skirts blended in and if so how did your body shop get around it?

I blended my side skirts with a lot of help from rainbowztt m8. I made mine sit flush with the body work so I didnt need to build the doors. If you add much to the doors you will need to remove metal from the leading edge of the door, hinge end, just to allow the door to swing open with out hitting the front wing.

My opinion...dont add to the door. You could just try and blend the joins of the skirt. Mine are seamless and I used Monza 3 from 300zx styling via Greddy, but i needed to remove a lot of fibreglass to get a good fit and then do a ton of fibrework to get it right for me.

All I can say is work with what you have and blend the joins rather than smooth the whole skirt into the front wing. I did build up my rear arches quite a bit to get a str8 line down the car but I cut the fibre a lot to achieve this.

I blended mine with bananas, didn't have the desired effect - kind of sharp aftertaste :( ;)

Enough Banana's!!! :nana2: :nana2:

The guy did suggest cutting away the bit at the front of the skirt that raises up the wing to bring it back down to the same level as the bottom of the door then filling from there. I am sure he said he would need to do something else to it though to make it look right. I thought this would be quite an easy job to do but maybe I am wrong:(

I guess as you said the easiest way would be to just blend the joins of the skirt. Sure it would still look better than just having them bolted on as they are now.
