Grrrrrrrr - until I got hit with this today, didn't realise exactly how annoying it has been to everyone. So it's stirring time:

1) Rang Japanese Performance - they're going to ring Nissan for a comment

2) Some peeps on other threads recommend going to 5th Gear's website - good one. Call/post every mag/website you want to. If you know them or have a connection, so much the better.

3) Point out to your mandela how much business he has just lost. In writing, Suggest he complains to Nissan Motor GB about their crazy policy which is losing him business.

4) Useful addresses:

Brian Carolin, MD, Nissan Motor (GB) Ltd

The Rivers Office Park, Denham Way, Maple Cross, Rickmansworth, WD3 9YS. Regular tel 01923 899334 (ring 'em up anyway and make them log this as a complaint) MD's office fax 01923 899918

Yoshikazu Hanawa, Chairman, Nissan Motor Co, 6-17-1 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo 1048023

(BTW if writing to the Js, FFS be respectful and grovel a lot - the loss of face thing with senior Js is still v important - shouting gets you binned as a round eye gaijin troublemaker)

next meet at Maple Cross in their car park?

(actually in future I am much more likely to follow you guys in sourcing from independents like Mike Feeney or ex-UK - but Nissan Motor GB have been dickheads and that riles me so will throw more toys out of the pram)

Hi Gio,

I agree with you gio, even though I haven't a jap Z, I have wondered why don't some clever people on the forum, template a letter/letters to write/email to Nissan dealers/Nissan UK/Nissan Japan and join forces with the skyline and 200sx forum to send our opinions to these people and then maybe, just maybe they might listen, to us roundeyes?

Mark

Opps I forgot,

A bottle of wine and 4 stalles, you know what I mean (hic),these templates could be stored in the rides section and people could just lift them and paste their details onto them.

Mark

My local dealer has this scheme in place - However they only require the VIN if you are asking them for a Part i.e :

I want a Fuel Pump for my Z32 Etc.

If you phone them up and ask for P/N 100020/484848 or whatever they will confirm what it is and order it for you - They even do partial Partnumbers for me Such as the ones they get of the CN web site !

So basically either get the part num CD or check or Mail Courtesy Nissans web site for what you want.

And no i dont have a import - just never have my VIN laying around when i want something !

Also if some kind fella with a written off UK car wants to post there VIN on here so all the import users can use it Feel Free !!

It dont have to be your VIN - just a VIN.

Please please buy it - im gettin desperate now god damit !!!

I usually go on Courtesy web site get the part number and call the local dealer.

However, I have only done this once, and that was to check the costs of all the bits in the 60,000 mile cambelt kit. Coutesy was half price, and that was including shipping, and before the VAT was added!!!!!!!

Thanks Nico, Leigh

the point here was my car was in Mandela for service, they discovered that it needed some bits - exhaust, rear bearing hub, washer jets etc etc. (Some of this stuff I knew already.) But in order for them to tell me how much it would cost to put this right, I would have to pay them £29.38p FFS mad.gif

That's what got up my nose.

Mandela said that they would be very happy to fit parts I had sourced so it looks like Nissan's idiotic charge is simply making me get parts from MJP or Courtesy instead of locally. They're crazy.

Thank god for the advice in this forum - bunch of stars here.

BTW what's this about a parts CD?

We are obvoiusly not alone in our problems, time to join forces I think. Here's an extract from this months Japanese performance magazine from an article on Grey Imports.

You're so right, Tim - just look at that quote "they now see it as a business opportunity". So why are Nissan Motor being such a bunch of (expletive deleted)? How does slapping a tax on greay imports encourage this "business opportunity". still mad.gif

does it have anything to do with older import vehicles like ours are....lets face it the only reason we get our hands on these beasties as an import is because the japs cant viably keep them on the road over there any more because the jap mot gets dearer and dearer every year forcing them to ditch the car and buy a new one. ive never had a new car and will always buy a second hand one but never again will i buy an import after the grief with this one

I have my VIN at work and I think Bob offered the use of his aswell.

Just drop me a mail saying "Can I use your VIN please Mr Turbo?" and I will more than happily oblige my fellow zederooneys!!! wink.gif

Or...

Step 1. goto TwinTurbo.net

Step 2. Register

Step 3. goto Docs on the left hand menu

Step 4. pay yourself 30 squid for looking up your own part numbers on the official Nelson fiche

OK, granted sometimes you may not be able to find the exact part number you are after, I've used it loads and I would say 95 percent of the time I have.

How much easier you make your life is upto you guys. wink.gif
