My car has a Greedy E-01 and Apexi S-AFC II, JD socketed chip. Normally it runs at 12psi. Its spose to go into overtake boost at a press of a button. Taking it to 16psi.

If I want to set it to run at 16psi all the time, im going to do this on the rolling road, is there anything they need to adjust on the e-01 or s-afc. Or is it just a case of setting to to 16 psi and run it up and check fueling/knocking.

Thanks.

it will alot safer to test it at 16 psi in a rolling road because they will be checking for knocking but all depends on the fueling on the chip

I would be concerned running at 16psi all the time, isnt that too close to maxing the duty cycle on stock injectors? I think you would be running it just that bit too close to the limit and likely to experiance det as the weather gets colder in winter (more dense air more likely to det..)

Disagree, cooler air will tend to give increased boost on cars without an EBC ;) Cooler air, cooler charge, less chance of det ;)

I would run MAX 15psi on stock injectors/turbos. Turbos are running out of efficiency by 17psi anyway so you're just heating the air....

Turbos have uprated internals, 360 degree bearings and TonyC said they can take 22-25psi. We also think there are 550 injectors in there as last time it was on the rollers at 400bhp the injectors were only running at 50%

Its been rolling roaded at 16psi (overtake boost) and was fine, by TonyC.

I jusdt wondered wether the chip will need remapping or something more complicated than just upping the boost on the controller.

As you can see on dyno charts,330.8bhp,cant understand where your losing power top end,but like as said fueling could be out for some reason causing you to have a loss there, best thing,go to Thor, get them to set it has it was when i sold it,think you will find something amiss, that Z should be fooking flying with 330 at hubs, and well within engines capabilities with this set up.

Keep us informed

Tony :)

Oh,one more thing, the boost has high and low settings, have you tried it on the higher one, think that is set at 14 tho could be wrong.Tell ya what dont touch it :) Just wait till you go to Thor(patience now :D )

  • Author

I have seen the hi/lo and it is set to low. But as you said, I dont wanna touch it cause I may press the wrong button.

I've got the overtake boost working now, but it was too wet today to see if it works to 16psi. The other day it was set to hold the button down and it only went to 6psi.

Thor has quoted £100 + vat

Surrey rolling road has quoted £60 and is a lot closer.

I just wondered if they could do the job as good as Thor, which is why I was asking what needs to be done. They said they can run it up and tweak fueling, but cant do any major tuning.

Personaly i would go to Thor, they have all the pass codes for the Greddy and the SAFC II,and Pete is methodical ie he takes his time but gets it spot on.

Up to you of course.

Tony

I always thought that colder air meant it was more dense to start with, so once it had ben though the turbos it meant even more compression therefore more air, therefore more fuel should be added. This works fine until the injectors cannot keepup and you start to det? Thats also why cars have more power with colder dense air isnt it?

Sounds like the zed in question has plenty done to it so 16psi shouldnt be bad, but i would wait for the guys with the RR to tweak it..
