after my blowout yesterday, the AA guy had to get rear wheel off.

Its been lowered 40mm and has veilside skirts and a wide arch kit.

 

He started jacking from the sill with a trolley jack - I told him no, and told him to do it from under the axle, where I thought would have been safer.

anyway - long story short - he done it from the sill - is this recommended/right??

 

I know if you jack from the front sill you can pop the wing out slightly and damage it - but the rear looks like no damage has been done - luckily.

the aa suck, i just use them as a mobile tool set!

arse hole lucky there mate i made a little wooden ramp about 4inches high that i carry around so i can drive the car onto it to get a jack under, got me out of a few probs in the past, every zed should have 1. Theres an idea make and market mini ramps for lowered or kitted cars where its tight to get a jack under

Never jack it under the sill! :eek:

 

I always watch the car when it goes in for tyres to make sure the fitter-monkey doesn't do that.

over 1 1/2 tonnes of car vs 3mm? of strip metal? i'd sue the hell out of them if they did that to mine.

LOL the sill is actually the factory recommended jacking point! You need to make a slotted block though to support it on the jack to stop it folding over ;)

my car is on a 2 poster ramp at the mo and the pad on the ramp are under the sill jacking points, if you look just behind the front wings and just in front of the rear wheels you'll see the sill bottom is thicker there for jacking

I use the standard jack with the hole to take the slit. Great exercise for the arms!
