couple of queries...

Am new to the site and am looking to buy a Z Turbo. I have noticed in the for sale section that a lot of the adverts mention PCV valves, PTU and hicas arms.

Sorry to be really dumb  but what does PCV and PTU mean?

And what are the HICAS arms?

Thanks

PTU is part of the engine management electronics, series 2 is best.

PCV, not too sure, but some sort of valves that can get blocked up.

Hicas is the rear wheel steer system.

Wait till they get onto the Avi valves..or is that Aiv :headvswal

PCV valves.....acronym for Positive crankcase ventilation valves. If these clog up, which invariably they do, they create breathing issues and often make a seemingly healthy car appear somewhat shagged. IE, smoking and rough idling. They are cheap to replace and the symptoms which are often misdiagnosed will often clear themselves up after a few hundred miles after replacement.

And i thought this thread was gonna be about a couple of the NE guys

Good luck in finding your perfect Z Heather.

PTU = Power Transistor Unit .

Think of it as an electronic distributer. It switches each coil pack on which then produces the spark at the plug.

Hicas stands for high capacity contolled suspension .The early zeds fluid powered racks and the later ones use electonic motor powered rack called SUPER HICAS.
