Nightmare job to do with engine in........ I might even go so far as to say impossible :(

It's just too cramped down the sides of the engine, turbo area. The chassis rails are 'in the way'

Yup people who say when selling a 300

ย

"the turbos have been checked and are fine"

ย

Ask them when the engine last came out, bet they sat it never has, then ask them how the fook the tubs were checked!

nah if u know what u are doing it cant be done without taking the engine out...but u can do much except a crude check for staft play.

ย

in brief....

ย

unbolt exhaust from down pipes

remove downpipe from back of turbo (PitA on driver side)

ย

now you can get at the shaft on the back of the turbo and feel for any play

ย

u can do it from the front too to check the intake side but thats even more of a nightmare, and plus, if theres play at the turbine end, chances are theres play at the compressor end too.
