After some research I think I have found the problem to my uneven tyre wear. Could old sagging springs, still the original ones I think, cause tyres to wear out one of the wheel.

Any ideas on the cost of new ones?

Any ideas for upgrades?

Ahh the MAC man himself.

Cant really lower it, I'm blocked in by speed bumps. I think I only just clear them now, judging by the faces of the workmen who put them in.

How much can they sag? If I put lowering springs on how much lower are we talking?

Stuart

Stuart there are so many springs to choose from, ride height depends on what make you buy,if you don't want to lower your Z then go for stock springs, they are very good and last for years wink.gif.

Every post on TT.net about camber says, sagging springs cause tyre wear on the inside more than out. Mine is the oposite, which says too high. The shocks on the back are not stock, or I dont think they are. So slightly lower springs could correct this problem.

Does anyone know the stock ride height?

Anyone make head or tales of this?

It was done a few years ago before I bought it

Stu,

Iain's ground clearance is fairly speedbump friendly - I think he is running OEM or non lowered springs:

But also Iain has Uranthane front where as I have Fibre-fooking-glass and my car is lowered 35mm on SE springs:

I have about 1.5inch clearance on 18's and 35mm lowered springs and my front takes an awful battering frown.gif

Just remove them completely - they only make the car bounce up and down anyway.

The grip on a flat road is awesome without springs.

Yup Glenski I am running on stock springs for that reason bud wink.gif.

So I could take my car to get the camber adjusted? I measured the ride height of the rear arch and its about 26.5 inches, the manual says 26 5/8th so I dont think my springs are sagging.

No Stuart don't do it that way,First replace your spring and then get your camber ajusted.

I lowered my car and i found that the front never really changed at all regarding height. If your springs have sagged it might not even make that much difference.

But im pretty happy with it, changes the handeling, makes it feel way way way better.

But if your getting or have a body kit, then you might want to think twice.

I can clear speed bumps no problems.

how much of a compromise are you prepared to make? is the question.

Any reason why I should replace the springs first? Or are you trying to say it will be a waste of money getting the camber checked only to find its the springs.

Stuart

Stuart, what ian is saying is that if you replace the springs you will need to get the alignment done again. I would have everything on the car checked out first (bushes, springs etc) before you have your alignment done. Every time a component is changed on the suspension the alignment has to be redone.......

Just to add to Warren's point. I had a kit fitted and my motor is standard ride height. Some speed bumps are a problem, but if you do 90 to 120 down country roads the car bottoms out on the slight dips. Seem to have disintegrated the underside of my front skirt.

My Z is only fit for motorways or track for real fun driving. Dunno of firmer suspension modes would cure this, probably would.
