Tooley,

Yes mate. biggrin.gif

But if you wait a few weeks or so there is a new chip on it's way that makes the PS2 easier to use than using the widely used region X disc before loading a copied (ahem) game, you just put the copy (ahem) in and it loads like and original.

self booters are already out but they're a bit dearer but i'll wait for that chip if its gonna make life easier

Anyone know if the USB ones work?

Had mine chipped anyway but interested to know...

Matty, what you're talking about ARE the 4th gen chips, and they've been around for a while.

Tooley, yes you can simply get the old one unsoldered and have a new 4th gen chip inserted. If you want to know what chip to use (there are a lot of imposters, most are crap), gimme an email off list and I'll also tell you where to get them from (they are as rare as rocking horse shit).

The USB mods (or NeoKey) do work but I dont think they support DVD-R copies since I believe they are based on the Neo2.2. You need a Neo 2.5 for DVD-r (but you will still need a swap disk). The USB mods are slightly misleading in that you will need to open your machine up and make a soldering connection (but only one), they are not completely plug and play. I think they are bringing out a NeoKey based on the Neo2.5 but its not worth it, go for a 4th Gen chip.

cheers andy was it you i had the e-mail off the other day as if ure not far i'll come up and you can do it for me if poss

Yeah mate, it was me who emailed you. I live down in London so nowhere near you. BUT, I cant personally fit the buggers anyway (they are stupidly hard to fit). But, the guy I know does a service where you send your machine to him, and he returns it via recorded delivery. Turnaround time is under a week. Got most of my mates kitted up with these now, they are the dogs ganoobs.
