spent most of this afternoon under an old primera getting an exhaust for my daily drive

went to the scrap yard and got the whole lot for £10.......BARGAIN......

it brought back memories of when i used to own a nova (my first car) and me and my mate used to spend hours in scrappy's just to keep our cars on the road

it was great lol :D

well just pretend you have a nova again, then you have all the excuses in the world to visit a scrap yard lol

I used to love goofing around in scrap yards, Back in the day.

the one i went to on saturday wont let you go in on your own.

You go to the office a guy radios another guy and tells him what you want,

He comes wizzing round in a little beat up fiesta,

Takes you to a car and he removes the bit and radios back in to get a price ?

I could not fooking believe it !

i want to get dirty and fill my pockets with sh*t

oh my hands are filthy :smash:

my first car was a RS500. back in 87 when insurance was cheap. oh they were the good ole days. didnt need to get dirty in scrappys with that baby.

I had a hillman Avenger

And most of the cars in the scrap yard were better than the one i was driving !

class - remember my first car, bought a heap of a renault 5, and my mate went out and got himself a brand new pug 106.

we both drove into the back of people within a week of each other, i went down to the scrappy, again, climbed 3 cars high, got all my parts for £30 and done it myself - 6 months later, he'd saved up the money to fix the front end of his car (3rd party insurance)!

This brings back memories too. lol, walking out with bits in your pockets, that u didnt need, the odd time actually buying stuff, walked out of a scrappy in west london when younger with a complete set of mark 2 escort roof trim and and both front track rod ends, and a handbrake lever. basically pulled my socks around the bottom of my jeans and then put the track rods down the inside of my jeans by ankles, lengths of metal trim down the t shirt back and too into the jeans. Walked along like the tin man. lol

Why do scarp yards have puddles with bits of hardboard on, when you think its safe to use to cross over, you step on it, then its sinks, and the water suddenly goes from rainwater to oily muddy sticky crap stuck to your shoes water. Then you get back in your car and get it all over the interior mats, carpet, and footwell.

Ha HA the good old days.

I had an old MK3 escort years ago so the scrap yard was my second home. Putting other less rusty doors on and stuff.

Ahhh... the scrappy.... happy days..

I still have a can of carb cleaner I stole when getting bits for my B-reg Metro 1.0L about 8 years ago.

dunno about memories.....last month i was up the road @ gw bridgers the uk's largest breakers in the pouring rain getting seatbelts for the wifes car....little did i know the car i was stripping was home to a fox who was holed up in the foot well.....christ we both got a shock when i opened the drivers door

deff gona make a trip this weekend

see what i can nick

LOL
