From experience its the clutch slave unit under the gearbox that gets clobbered before the sump from speed bumps :(

Im dry sumping my new engine in the zed, although its not a VG lump.

Advantages of Dry sump :

* Being able to lower the main engine into the bay further, which lowering centre of gravity to improve handling and balance.

* Larger oil capacity

* No oil sloshing around, and pooling in the sump under hard acceleration, braking and turning.

* Increased power from less resistence on the crank.

* more consistent oil pressure,

* adjustable oil pressure

* improved scavenging

* increased ring seal due to greater pan vacuum.

yes that's what happen to me .....gearbox and slave unit...are the lowest bit's on a Zed.....

...i don't think you can run a dry sump on a auto box ...maybe a manual...????

You can dry sump an Engine whether its Auto or Manual :cool:

Just would like to know whether anyone has done this to a Z32 yet!

I know some Z31's have been done obviously mainly for the Track.

I know some Porsches are Dry Sumped

im sure legrath is using the dry sump, as hes going the v8 route, hence his post, i guess its ok except where to mount the pump on the vg, as theres so much room in the bay on the z32 :p ,as it need to be driven via RPM to match the engines needs, i would imagine it would need to be driven via the crank

im guessing you could junk the aircon pump and mount the sump pump there?with all the room there once the aircon is removed, surely it could be fabricated to that position

Take a look around PACE's site: http://paceproducts.co.uk can't recommend their products highly enough.

and here:

I have a 3 stage BG pump (2 scavenge, 1 pressure) which I'm using on the VH45DE swap.

Some interesting Parts ;)

Be very tight on a Z32 TT to get it all in.

Unless you want it for monster track use, I'd improve the sump baffling and fit a pressure accumulator.

Going to cost the best part of 1.5k to do it too.
