They have to send a NIP to you, they basically have two weeks from the day of the alledged offence. More importantly were you actually speeding, is the car registered to you?

they have six months to prosecute you from the date of the offence. i know this because they issued me with a court summons 5 and a half months after the offence. was told by my solicitor they had 6 months

What speed were you doing and what was the limit?

yes but I sure they have to give you notice with in 14 days. Cos 5 months after the offence how can you tell who was driving your car at an exact time 5 months ago?

only if you were verbally told at the time or notified in writing within 14 days (Notice of Intended Prosecution). If your solicitor told you anything else, they should be reported to the law society!

"Legislation requires that we send the notice out to the

REGISTERED KEEPER of the vehicle within 14 days. If you

are not the registered keeper then it will be longer than

this before we contact you."

That is word for word what it says on the back of the

NIP i recieved last week! (speed gun).
