Dash Trim Kits

Following the recent posts on Dash Trims I have been looking into these. I am in contact with a local firm who supply a major motor manufacturer as well as individuals with Wood, Carbon and Ally dash trims.

They do not currently do a 300ZX kit but are willing to produce these for us. They are prepared to supply the following:

1. Individual kits for any one of their standard wood, carbon, ally finishes. Working price appears to be around £100-£120;

2. Specials in any non-standard range finish that they can obtain e.g. the new stained black X-type Jaguar sport wood finish, etc... Working price appears to be around £150 depending on cost of the material;

3. They have obtained a template for their laser cutting equipment for a LHD 300ZX kit, and need our help to identify the pieces they need to change/flip - I will say more about this below;

4. If we require additional pieces than they are willing to template off of one of our vehicles and either add these to the full kit or do as specials. I know Coogs is interested in the extra pieces the Edash kit offers, e.g. vents and roof pieces.

Initially I need your help (my car is at the garage) to identify which pieces are required to be flipped. The template they have sent me has all the pieces also shown on the Joshua Tree site. Could volunteers check the following link http://www.woodtrim.com/catalog_detail.cfm?prod=2008 against their car - perhaps 4 volunteers? UK Manual; UK Auto; Import Manual; Import Auto.

I think we need to go one step at a time, but I will put another post up in a few days to see how many would be interested and if the current template has enough pieces, the finishes that are readily available, etc.... So please can we just keep this post to sorting out the basic template!

Thanks, Geoff

The window switch surrounds located on the doors need flipping. Also the clock is situated to the right of centre on my jap auto (now manual) whereas on the drawing it appears to be left of centre. The mirror control switch has a centre joystick and a button to the right. This may be different to US bit I can't see it in the drawing.

From what I can see so far, the ashtray needs to be flipped, as does the auto shifter insert, will these kits be real aluminium or sinthetic? ( this obviously only applies to the aluminium finish)

Any other volunteers? Concerned about the rear centre console panel that contains the wing mirror adjustment, etc... Are there different types?

Brian, both synthetic and real brushed have been mentioned to me as being available. Hope this helps?

Hi,

Seeing Devil's post on 'group buys', I need to let those interested know about this little project of mine.

Things are progressing, but slower than perhaps hoped. The company I am dealing with are in the process of cutting a trial kit with what looks like the same pieces as shown in the Joshua offering, but for a RHD. The next stage is likely to be to find an Essex ZX that could pop round to their designer to template any additional pieces we would like (such as those shown on the Edash kits). Having a complete sheet, individuals could 'cherry pick' the pieces they wanted and the finish.

Unfortunately this is still likely to take a couple-few weeks.

It would be helpful if you could e-mail me if you are interested, indicating which pieces you are likely to want (e.g. as Joshua; as Edash; other additional bits), and the finish you would like. I can then keep everybody informed by e-mail and give the company an idea of demand. Please keep in mind it will be a few weeks.

Thanks, Geoff

I could probably pop in for you, I'm in Ongar. Where are they, and how long would they want me there for?

While they're at it, could they fabricate a speedo/revcounter surround for the instrument binnacle?

Brushed aluminium would be nice wink.gif
