Hi people i have been speaking to someone about getting a 300 zx twin turbo on a j reg he wants to swap my vectra 2.2 sri on a 2002 plate its done 63.ooo miles and he wants a stright swap hes car is a 300zx twin turbo firalady or something he said can any one be off any help about theses cars boy theses cars look real hot

owning a decent one is THE best thing in the world

 

for me i dont think there is many cars that can match its looks :)

oh and they drink petrol as well and being rear wheel drive they can slide out on you. But they are great I love mine hate the expensive but with this kind of car you have to grin and bear it. Loads of fun can be had with them but they have to be looked after well

72litre tank running super unleaded. you'd be lucky to get 300miles max out of it, 2-250miles is more usual unless you're a flat cap wearer.

If it helps J. I get an average of around 16.5 MPG. ( Oops, I guess that doesn't help at all). Take notice of the guage after it dips below a quarter. Until that point, enjoy.

I as you can see, am called Captain Slow. I can get 20mpg.

when I used to drive from my house to Ashford in kent (via eastbourne in sussex) I always managed to do the whole journey using only 1/4 of a tank. and I don't drive like an OAP either! lol

Anyway, to you question - at current prices it costs me around £65 to fill it to the brim, from when the light comes on.

 

In normal driving - mixture of town, fast a-road and occasional hard overtaking I get around 220 miles until the light comes on again. On a long M-way run at around 90-100mph I have seen around 260 miles. (UK spec twin turbo auto)

 

To put that into perspective, my SLK230 Kompressor costs around £45 to fill from empty and that gives me 275 miles normal driving and 320+ miles on the same m-way run.....

 

My advice is if fuel and running costs are an issue then don't buy a 300zx. On the other hand if you don't care about the money and want to enjoy an excellent driver's car that doesn't fail to put a smile on your face then get one! ;)

 

As for reliability - just buy wisely. I have had mine over 3 years now and for a while I was driving over 50 miles daily. It has never let me down......

You are asking a lot of the 'wrong' questions here. If you are concerned about the cost of repairs / fuel then this car is not for you.

 

Bear in mind that they are getting old and old things break. There are a lot of mingas out there. You've only got to look on ebay and autotrader to see the variety available.

 

Maybe consider a n/a instead of a TT or look at the cars for sale on this forum. They have been looked after by enthusiasts and should represent good value for money.

 

Go to some local meets and see the quality of the cars on display, you can then compare them with the Autotrader tat.

As with all cars preventative maintenance is important, keep em well looked after and you will be ok although it is no garauntee as crap happens and if it does with one of these then you are looking at large bucks.

I get about 30mpg with my NA Fairlady.. At crusing long trips 70 to 100mph

 

depends what you want it for .. Mine is weekends ...but the looks it gets is worth every penny spent............you dont buy a thorobred and carry hay on its back.. get out in one and test it .......Best forum in the universe here.....check it out ...thease guys drive um, bend um, fix um, they no what they are talking about.......

 

Vectras.. 300zx No contest..for me.. and Ive had Supras, Astra GTE 20, Trans am, Calrton 3ltr ,,Bmw 5.28i, 3100rs Capri, MGB Roadster , Camaro, Dutton Pheaton 2ltr..

 

and the 300zx still leaves me with a smile on my face.......

that front bumper has seen some action! and it looks like the rear lights were designed by 3yr old from felt shapes that cut it out of cardboard.

agreed, those rear lights look f*****g awful, and the front bumper is shot to hell. If I were you, I'd sell the vectra and spend the money on a decent Z. That one aint worth it IMO.

Agreed - it looks a rough example to me.

 

There are many more, much better looked after cars out there for decent prices. Have a look at the cars for sale section here first.
