The Glass Bridge Construction of the Skywalk began March of 2004 and is estimated to be completed by 4th quarter of 2006.

The Glass Bridge will be suspended 4,000 feet above the Colorado River on the very edge of the Grand Canyon. On May 2005, the final test was conducted and the structure passed engineering requirements by 400 percent, enabling it to withstand the weight of 71 fully loaded Boeing 747 airplanes (more that 71 million pounds).

The bridge will be able to sustain winds in excess of 100 miles per hour from 8 different directions, as well as an 8.0 magnitude earthquake within 50 miles. More than one million pounds of steel will go into the construction of the Grand Canyon Skywalk.

Thats a good point, who the fook is gonna clean the windows??? I bet they probably haven't thought that far ahead

see it takes good old british intelligence to work out the finer points why we won the war

only way i can see that working is if it is using the lip as a fulcrum with a serious amount of counterbalance behind it.

There is NO way I would go on that!!!!!!

I'm not too good with heights so no way would I go on that.....

......mind you I took a hot air balloon ride a couple of weeks ago, we went up to 3200 feet and I was fine with that. In fact it was pretty awesome and I'd definitely do it again

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I'd definately do that. Amazing construction  Reminds me (on a VERY lesser scale) of a club that used to be in Birmingham (before it became a Spearmint Rhino) that had a suspended glass floor very high up above the dance floor (used to be an old dance hall/cinema I believe so you can imagine the height). Very amusing watching drugged out clubbers go up there and bugging out completely. Lost it's effect after a few months though as it's clearness went with all the scratches.

 im a vision technichan-window cleaner id be bulloxed if id walk that

The last time I went on something that high......three weeks later they were blown up(down),whatever............................................................................................................................................................................................................................. :duffer:

I should be going back to my beloved Las Vegas next October for the SEMA show, and I'll DEFINITELY be paying a visit to The Skywalk, without question - I can't wait!!

I should be going with Chunk (amongst others) so that'll be a great bit of physio for him, as he should be walking by then (fingers crossed). I bet he won't give a fook if his leg hurts, he'll just sprint to the end LOL!!

I've walked on the glass floor in the CN Tower

Me too :hyper: :hyper:

Oh, and I'd walk on that new platform as well
