As i have pretty much decided to make my car pretty much a drag/track car i am looking into ways of keeping the costs down on running her in events etc

So as most of the other "big boys" in the skyline, supra, RX7 world etc have sponsorships why not me?

Basically i have done 99.9% of all the work and paid for it all but its more oils, some bodywork, maintenence, tyres, general running costs at events etc etc i'm looking at and dont mind getting it stickered up and letting the car be used for the sponsors own events etc??

Not 100% sure how it all works but if theres any traders who want to get involved then let me know.

not tried anyone as yet, would rather keep it in the club with the traders on here if poss but if nothing comes of it then i may look elsewhere but hey who knows ;)

once the car is up and running at full power it should be interesting and turn a few heads and it should be too hard to get it mag featured in all the main mags?

Sponsorship is definately the way forward on for a high end show/track/race car. My main sponsor is Bodywork Plus but I'm also sponsored by Nearfield Audio and F-S-Auto's in Japan (and will have press coverage in the tuning mags over there once the build is finished). My advice is to put a good press pack together: a letter outlining the current level of the car, what it will achieve and the places/shows/competitions/race days you hope to attend. If possible it would be a good idea to get some interest from magazines before you send it off so you can name drop in the pack. If it's possible to secure a feature on completion then all the better (difficult to get a definate on this one as they get a lot of people calling and emailing that never follow through hence they can be a little hesitant at first). Include a CD with as many images pertaining to the build as possible. Also mailshot as many companies as you can. The trick is to sell the aspect of the build that makes it stand out from all the other potential cars requesting sponsorship. If you can find that selling point and sell it well it helps a great deal.

Some good ideas there bud :)

Will sort something out over the weekend.

Would like to get some of the traders on here involved first, even if its not in a massive way but more discount for me etc but it all helps ;)

Cheers for that

No probs :) Been through it all myself and it can be a bit daunting getting everything together into a cohesive package at first but definately worth doing. At the moment I'm trying to get a certain high end alloy wheel manufacturer on board in Japan, thankfully I have a guy over there to act as my third party translator as my Japanese is limited to "yes", "no", "thank you", "1-2-3-4" and "sushi" ! :D ;)
