Hi,

I have Tein Coilovers and the ride height is adjustable. I have just replaced all four tyres and have noticed a lot of wear around the inside edges of all four old tyres.

I suspect this is due to the camber or incorrect suspension setup.

I have rang Abbey Motorsport and am awaiting them to get back to me. They said they are not sure if they can help as they specialise in Skylines, however they said I might need new upper arms and bushes to get the shocks back in alignment.

Does anyone know what this means or whats involved?

Can anyone advise me on this matter and whether coilovers can be re-calibrated or aligned.

Thanks

I got some from smithy - very simple job - just undo the bolt that holds the camber arm to the strut. You can't get to the back bolt due to clearence - so you remove the whole bracket from the car and seperate the camber arm from the bracket while off the car.

Removal takes no more than 10 mins, but I recommend soaking the threads in penetration grease first!

Fitting is reverse of removal and then drive to your local MOT/tyre place and get a 4 wheel laser alignment done.

Easy.

I took mine to an accident repair specialist. They have a jig to set cars up after an accident. Cost £64 to have everything checked and re-set to manufacturers spec.

I'd replaced the lowered coilovers with standard spec and needed the car re-set as it'd been set for the lower ride height and was eating front tyres.

Interestingly, the accident repair place didn't see it as a specialist job fetching big money because it's a 300 - they just did the job. And it's driven straigh ever since and the tyre wear's non existant - apart from hard cornering.

Good luck

Is this what you bought from Smithy?

They're £255 for the fronts. What about the rears as I am getting wear there too.

I know Smithy's products are of high quality but are there cheaper adjustable upper arms as I dont really want to spend £250 for new upper arms front & back.
