I have an issue with the passenger side turbo, is it true the engine should come out completely to carry out the work, or can they be reached underneath? thanks

Engine out Job!

Look through some of the old threads on the site, I am sure that some guy managed to get the passenger side turbo out without engine removal!

When you say turbo leak, to you mean loose clamps? Or that the turbo itself is stuffed and needs to be pulled out?

You can reach the passenger side turbo by removing the battery, but removing is another matter.

passenger side turbo smokes after a heavy driving - is it knackered ?

A few different things can cause smoking exhaust, your PCV valve might be letting oil threw at idle, or your turbo seal could be on the way out. PCV replacement is cheap & easy (in caparison to replacing turbo) , that would be the first thing I’d do.

I recommend you drop the passenger side exhaust & examine the turbine before you take the next line of action (pulling engine).

what does PCV stand for? i remember when it first started - my car was off road for a while and i used to start and run in onces a weeks ish... one day it started smooking - perhaps i reved it hard when the engine was cold - since then it will only smoke when i give it a good run

Positive crancase ventilation, which is basically exhaust gasses from the combustion process which get past the piston rings need to go somewhere so at a certain pressure the pcv valves allow em back into the intake, the valves are on the underside of the plenum about 2-3 inches back from the throttle bodies, passenger one is easy , drivers one a pig.
