I have recently had to claim on my home insurance for an accident with an old laptop. They are sending me about £400 of PCworld vouchers to cover the old machine (more than fair) and im thinking i should get something to work as a carputer.

 

Thing is, im not sure where to go (due to my indescission really!). I dont have a touchscreen yet and money is a bit tight so dont want to get one unless its the right solution for me. Was wondering about an Ipaq but then it wont run datascan which id quite like in my car (althought probably not use that much if im honest!)

 

Is there any other option i have missed for about £400 other than a laptop or an Ipaq that i could get? Guessing not, legrath if you read this what sort of cost am i looking at for a touchscreen to work with a laptop in the zed?

I managed to source a minature trackbal to get around the touchscreen issue. Wish i could find the time to get it all installed :(

Im still not convinced i can be bothered in the side effects of a computer running windows in a car! Id be mostly after it for mp3s and datascan, i just cannot find a nice bit of software for in car satnav. They all look a bit bobbins to me, and not like a finished project.

 

Im probably going to go the touchscreen route, ive got pretty much all the extra bits i need apart from the touchscreen and the laptop (hence this post lol)

Other thing is, i wonder if its a waste to have a new laptop, with a decent 14in size screen just sat in my car? And end up using a 7in monitor?
