rear seal to the crank is a must otherwise if it starts to leak down the line it means gearbox out so whilst your there and all that

can i do this myself greg? where is the seal? is it prop shaft end or engine end. what about cleaning the filter in the gearbox. the gearbox must have been out before as there was bolts missing. and on the torque convertor it has 300zx writen on it and stamped to say it was checked and ok

you can remove autobox sump check filter and check for clenliness, and burnt fluids etc

rear crank oil seal is at the rear of the engine, remove driveplate/ringgear 6x14mm bolts and the seal will become present, use a strong fine flat bladed scredriver and knock it in to the edge of the seal, pry seal out place new seal in place and use old seal as a drift hit with rubber mallet until seal is pressed in.check edging of seal for any kinks or splits that the inner spring is not exposed

greg

tip becareful on removing ringgear/driveplate bolts, use a good quality hardened 14mm 12point socket as these round easy, and you dont want that ;)

cheers greg your a star, what should i do with my old engine. are any of the parts worth selling? the big ends have gone but everything else is ok. is it worth selling tps or o2 sensors?

yeh tps is worth 20-30 squid

cams,sprockets,plenum,waterpipes,heads

you could just list all parts on engine, and welcome offers for any available parts, saves going in the scrapper ;)
