I've just ordered a Hawk HA-101 Cat 1 alarm and am planning to fit it myself to my new Zed this weekend. The professional installers charge a fortune for fitting them and I am not too interested in getting an insurance reduction, I'm more interested in security, remote central locking, engine immobiliser and a microwave sensor (to help protect my Zed when the Targas are off).

Any advice on things to do, or not to do, when self installing?

This has now become an insurance issue so I must get a pro to fit it for me. Anyone close to Swindon that can give me a good price?

The alarm I have bought and need fitted is a Hawk HA-101.

Dave

As you'll have found out, the insurance companies want to see a certificate of professional installation before they'll cover you for theft.

Good luck

Unless you are totally familiar with the cars wiring and know what you are doing forget it. Pay someone who does or it will cost you in the long run.

Hi Bob - Thanks for the advice, that's why I am looking for someone fairly close to Swindon who will fit it for me for a reasonable price.

If you get stuck let me know, i have done loads of Z`s and alot off here. I can find a good dealer for you near Swindon or have a drive up to me for the day.

Hi Bob, I was asking if you would recommend a car alarm installer in the Swindon Area, but I have now contacted the manufacturer and they have agreed to fit it themselves. I hope I haven't caused you any inconvenience.
