as i have to work on my car outside i havent been doing much on it for a few days but here is a pic showing the (little) progress i have made. where are the engine mountings as i havent noticed any, not had a proper look yet. cant get the a/c pump off as cant get to the bolts.

have a look behind the alternator / aircon compressor on each side, you might be able to see the mounts from there ;)

you dont need to remove the air con compressor when removing the engine.

if you look underneath at each end of the cross member there is a 14mm nut for the engine mounts.

so where else is it attached apart from on the cross member. there must be some support at the top of the engine

nope you have 2 14mm nuts holding the engine which as are said are bolted on each side of the crossmember

 

engine is supported by gearbox aswell so thats all it needs
