I though August was supposed to be particularly warm this year, but it's so cold in here at the moment I've just had to put the central heating on. Anybody else had to do this?

I don't care at the moment. It's in the 90's in San Diego and will be for the rest of the month. Just one more week of dull weather. I think I can put up with it.

I'd love to live in the States. Tried to get my internship over there when I was at uni....and didn't manage to.

So, it'll be quite cold then at that time of the year then if you're north of San Fran.

I've never been when it's cold. Oh, tell a lie, was in DC during a storm. But just being there feels ubber cool. Dunno what it is about the place. The wide long roads, the huge vastness and open feeling you get when you're there.

ok,next subject :D

It's been 4 years since I was there last. Did an East Coast road trip from Daytona Beach all the way up to Washington DC. Was fantastic. Favourite place is Savannah in Georgia....you know where Forest Gump is sat on the park bench? Well, that's Savannah and it's the most lovely relaxed and chilled out place I've ever been to.

Could have stopped there forever.

I HATE gritz though!

No kidding? I worked on a summer camp up there in 1995... teaching kids from the San Francisco ghettos how to shoot. :smw:

Is that a wise idea? Bit like offering a nuclear arsenal to Bin Laden.

Have fun Si. I'm extremely jealous. Managed a bit of a road trip in the States last year. Spent some time in California and then drove a very indirect route across to Dallas for a Microsoft trade show. Not entirely convinced I could live there, but it was cool. If you can get up there I'd recommend driving the Pacific Coast Highway from Los Angeles to San Francisco. Some really beautiful scenery, and some very hairy drops. Wished I had the zed with me when I did it last year: actually drove it in a Chrysler Sebring convertible, which isn't too bad at all (very comfortabl), but it's no zed and does tend to lurch sideways across the road in a very unsettling manner when you fling it round bends.

Anyway, like I say, I'm jealous.

Yeah, well I worked out why they're so big on automatic weapons: most of them can't hit a thing without using something that sprays bullets all over the place.

Really? I did my east coast trip in a Sebring Convertible. I have some photos of me in it driving round a roundabout near the Capiton Building in DC.

I'm not going as far as San Francisco. Santa Barbara will be the furthest north if I decide to go there. Going to concentrate my efforts around San Diego and some time in Long Beach.
