20k ohms is it for 180mph?

The guy in the shop only had 22k ohm, will that do? I know there's a certain amount of adjustability but will it be enough with 22k ohms in.

If not i'll stick two ten k ohms in series but thought i'd ask before i peed about too much with it

:)

Mental note: 4500rpm in 2nd gear locked out is 55mph ;)

Supposed to be a 20k I think, but the variable resistor in series with it should be enough to correct.

It should be 20K and I have loads of spare ones if you find the 22K one leaves the speed to high.

Mine still reads about 12% to high after fitting cos I've been to lazy to adjust it yet :)

Hi - Excuse my interuption but is this thread about converting the speedo from km to miles? Could you please give more information as I am just buying a 1995 Jap import (in km) and want to find out how to change it to miles. At the moment the dealer is just going to put a mph dial on but the recorded distance (odometer?) will still run in km and I know this can be changed somehow as my present import Z32 in totally in miles.

To change the odometer as well you either need UK clocks, or maybe the odo from a UK car, but I've not tried that yet. I think that the gearing is different.

Or, you use one of the speedo converter boxes, which messes with the signal before it gets into the clock (and also potentially confuses the ECU).

O.K. but where does the 20k resistor come in?

Don't answer here as I have started a new post on this subject as this is interrupting bantambunny's thread.

That is correct- I've had the odometers seperated from my old Jap-spec clocks and my "new" UK ones, and the gearing IS different.
