Right,

Ive fitted both the PTU and the CAS that Smithy kindly sent me and it still wont start!!!!!??????

Has ANYBODY got any other ideas what this may be rather than me taking the car to Nissan to get bumped off?

There is definatly no spark at the plugs so what else could that be?

Car just lost power, misfired and came to a stop.

Am getting desperate as its my daily driver and ive been without for 2 weeks now so any suggestions greatly accepted on this

Jase

sorry to hear that mate.wot a *******.

ooops valves are bent then :( just had a customer in after removing lower cover it was evidant the teeth had been stripped on the crank sprocket, cam pulleys did not move on NS bank so new heads needed :(

hope it gets sorted for you mate,if you need any advice give us a shout

I have some heads here if needed mate. I would pull the covers off and refit the belt in the correct position and do a compression test if it was me. Never know.

Cheers mate, I'll fit a new belt and keep fingers crossed, just out of interest how do i make sure the cams and stuff are in the correct alignment before i fit the belt as i should imagine its all over the place at the moment.

all cams have a white mark on with a dimple so turn sprocket and align with plate behind cam sprocket which also has a dimple on,do the same with all four you might find a couple will almost be at the marks

before you do that set the bottom end to TDC on crank sprocket there again is a small dimple align this with the mark on the oil pump neck which will become obvious with a good clean

oh if you cant move camshaft sprockets,or they are silly tight on either bank, chances are you have bent valves :(

I have just read through this thread and everything is pointing towards a snapped cambelt but maybe its worth checking that the starter motor is bolted on nice and tight just in case. There is the slightest chance that its spinning but not making contact with the flywheel, and hence the cams not turning while the starter is spinning. Dont get your hopes up though as this wouldnt explain the misfiring and usually makes a distinct sound when its not on tight enough.

I just want to say a big thank you to all the replies and help ive had with this and a big thanks to smithy for his time and effort in sending me new parts, i think the starter is ok and my luck reckons prob the belt gone, My only glimmer of hope is the low speed i was doing when in snapped....i'll keep u all posted.

unlucky mate, don't get your hopes up but I've read something on here about how there might be a chance that the valves didn't bend if it's a manual but i'm not 100 % certain, good luck. :(

apparently mate thats if its an auto....which it is so im fingers and toes crossed
