Does anyone know of anything that can remove the leftover tacky glue from when a sticker has been removed from the rear window. Can't use a scraper as there is risk of damaging the heated window element so need to know of something I can safely use without damaging any paintwork as just had boot re-sprayed.

Hints needed urgently, want this fitted or the weekend.

Also, how hard is it to remove the glass from the rear window? Are they glued in?

Its glued in and needs to be cut out with a cheesewire, I left it to a professional and even he managed to shatter the rear window.

Okay, so maybe removal not an option  Got any ideas for removing the glue left from the sticker?

Is the window tinted? if not I would say thinners or even t-cut but if it is still tinted I would be wary of that in case it messes up the plastic film of tinting.

nail varnish remover?

i'll have apint of each please! :duffer:

pannel wipe is like thinners but less aggressive i would suggest this.

Meths

Cue Craig ... not crystal meths mate .. sorry ...

Get your crack pipe away ..

LOL... :)

Have you got any pvc suppliers (facis, sofits, white plastic etc) if so they do a thing call WEBCLEAN for cleaning black roof tar or white polished surfaces, not abrasive, try on a small area first, see what happend, be carefull of the heater strips in the rear window. don rub to hard. I used to use it when i was a valeter. Good for driend on bugs to, but wash off paintwork straight away.

we use petrol, thats perfect. also there is a product called "sticky stuff remover" which does all sticky things like that.

Only at the weekends, not on a school night!

To get rid of the goo?

I'd use some gentle heat - a tea towel dipped in a cup of water hot from the ketal, pressed on for 10-20 seconds should soften it. Or gentle heat from a hair drier.

Then a solvent like brake cleaner or meths.

To remove stickers use CRC556 on a rag followed by elbow grease - very safe. Use a bit of window cleaner afterwards to remove the CRC.

Cheers for all the help guys managed to get it done now and re-tinted the window to match the others. Ended up using lighter fluid some cotton cleaning pads and a window scraper.
