hi all

my car has picked up ap strange habit, when i start it from cold its fine, i will get to the bottom of my road about half a mile (driving v steady and on no boost at all) , where there are some traffic lights if i stop at them my car then starts to smoke vast amounts of blue smoke, if i then pick up the revs to about 2-3k it will stop but come back as soon as it drops back to idle.

after 5 minutes or so when the car is warm it stops all together, and drives perfect no smoke and boost is fine and it pulls like a train, the car is a uk tt manual. with 66k on the clock

pcv have been changed some time ago

any ideas people?

i have had my zed nearly 3 years, so i am kind of used to bad news and spending money. but hey no good being the riches man in the grave yard. maybe thats why the zed was invented ???

Don't jump the gun! It could also be your stem seal(s) are leaking. I now that normally if it's stem seals its on start up & clears, but normally if it's your turbo seal the smoke it thick & white. This is a comon problem as we all know, mine has just started doing the same thing! One thing I have noticed is, it will smoke a lot more if I'm going down hill. This the same for you?

Sounds like there is a strong possibility that it's a leaking stem seal. Just keep an eye on it for the time being. The smoke will worsen over time, making it easier to diagnose.

Is the smoke coming from both exhausts, or only one side???

id double check there isnt a PCV stuck open, it might be at vacuum theres oil being drawn through from the crankcase.

just realised its the valve stem seals your on about :wack: i am not so sure they its that, cos if it was, i would exspect it to smoke straight away when started from cold. if the oil hand been leaking down into the cylinders surely?

and like i say it has been decatted.

Sorry bud,

Yeah I was talking about the valve stem seals. Like I said in an earlier post, my cars doing a similar thing, except that it smokes heavily at idle from time to time. Then it doesn't smoke at all for a few days.

I'm also de-catted (I'm more a dog person anyway) & I think it's my passenger side turbo seal. I have decided that I'll have the turbo's hi-flowed.
