Loosing Power When Put My Foot To The Floor For Any Length Of Time

Hi

I have recently got a 1990 import 300zx tt, never owned anything like it before, has always been my dream car but i know little about them.

It had a water problem that i seem to have fixed by changing the rad cap but it has also been loosing power.

When i put my foot to the floor for more than 5-7 seconds she looses power as if something is holding it back, if i take my foot off the accelerator and put it back on it's fine, it will rev right up the rev range. It happens everytime i floor it for any lengh of time.

I do have a non working speedo at the moment, i have got a speed sensor to fit and i'm intending to look for any loose or bad connections, could this have anything to do with my loss in power??? I know it affects the steering but don't know about anything else it can do.

If anyone could help i'd be really grateful.

Cheers

Pete

Yep is auto

Thanks i was told the speed sensor could cause loads of things to go wrong.

Is it easy for me to change???

Have been having the same problem with mine for several months, exactly the same symptons. Foot down hard and suddenly it feels like you've taken your foot off the pedal, lift and floor it again and off it goes for 5 or so seconds again.

Anyway I fixed it last week whilst rooting around the engine trying to fix a TPS problem, I notice a clip holding one of the pipes at the back of the engine wasn't round the whole pipe completely causing a boost leak (I assume). It was not obvious from a quick glance, but I just moved the clip back into place and problem solved.

Definitely worth a look.
