I first noticed this pulling away from a petrol station the other day. When I turned the ignition the car was sqealing at me. It had a certain rythm to it so I'd guess it was some sort of belt or basically something that goes round and round. Anyway it went away after about 20 seconds. Any ideas?

Im not sure if it will do it again because It was the last time I drove it before I went on holiday and I can't drivwe it yet since I gave my sister the keys to look after.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Possibly the alternator belt.

It's a two minute job to tighten it if you can get under the car and take the splash-guard off.

There are three belts at the front, one could be loose or have fluid on it? I think they are all relatively easy to adjust from underneath but then it may be just as prudent to replace them.

As Craig said, remove the splash guard and have a good listen to the alternator .. likely culprit.

You can 'test' which belt it is by putting talcum powder on them one at a time.

It gives the belt extra grip so the squeaking should stop.

Unfortunately it's quite awkward to do.

Greg told me the alternator belt is the most likely to be the culprit and in my case he was right.
