how do you split the engine from the gearbox. it is an auto. i havent removed any bolts as of yet

Featured Replies

also ghow do you get to the bolts on the top of the gearbox

Are you taking the engine out or the gearbox out, either way the splitting bit is the same. Drain gearbox oil.Remove engine to gearbox back plate bolts, and remove the plates. They are in two pieces on an auto. The starter should be off as well. You will then see 4 mounting nuts for the torque converter, undo 'em. Remove the bolts round the bell housing, the two at the top is only reachable when the gearbox crossmemmber has been removed and the gearbox is then lowered. Ensure the torque converter stays attached to the gearbox. You will then need 3 shredded wheat as it is quite heavy. A two man job.

im taking the engine out. will 1 man and a trolley jack be ok?

elo graham, went past your hoos the day and seen her up on the ramps.

i'd have lent a hand if you had called.

oh and if you give me a call i'm getting a engine crane over the weekend if you like to lend her for a bit.

Taking it out is OK, 1 man job, putting it back is something else. I hope you realise that you have to drop the front crossmember when taking the engine out.

drop the front crossmember? didnt realise you had to do that. why did i even think about changing this myself. lol ian i dont have ya number anymore mate.
