I understand that John Helps passed away late last week. At the moment I have no more details than that, save for I believe his death may have been diabetes related.

He was a member here and a frequent contributor in the relatively short time he owned a Z. If anybody has met him or knows him personally then we can send some flowers or make donation to a nominated charity etc. I hope to have some more details later and I expect something will already have been posted on IMOC, RX-7 forums etc.

Josie is one of John's daughters. She has extended an open invitation to all of John's friends to attend his funeral. This is an extract from an email to friend of mine (and John's) from the IMOC forum :-

You are very welcome to attend the funeral. It is on Friday, 13:30 at Surrey and Sussex Crematorium, Balcombe Road, Crawley, West Sussex. RH10 3NQ. The wake is being held at the Red Lion in Betchworth. You can find directions on how to get there at http://www.redlion-betchworth.com

My Dad always talked about his cars and his car clubs, it was a very important part of his life.

The Friday is this Friday, 11th August. Josie has asked anyone going to John's Wake at the pub to drop her a line and let her know. I have her mobile number as well, but I'll only PM that to people if required.

She is asking people attending the wake to let her know only so they can adjust the numbers for the catering.

I didn't know John personally, but I would like to send flowers on behalf of the Club. His last post on our forums was 28th July which is just a few days before reading this dreadful news. Puts a perspective on the important things in our lives.
