I have just joined this forum as I've bought an M-Reg 300zx Fairlady. Love the car but I'm having a few problems with the gearbox. 1st, 3rd and 5th gears seem to be OK but 2nd, 4th and Reverse are 'noisy'. Crunchy would sound too harsh in this instance. I've just had a new clutch fitted which is fine but discovered this problem shortly after.

 

I really hope that this isn't going to need a new gearbox but am expecting the worst. I really need to find a specialist who can check this out for me and was hoping you guys might be able to point me in the direction of a few contacts.

You could try the Zen Garage in Horsham (Sussex). They're excellent.

 

Not exactly on your doorstep but you're unlikely to find a place that's competent with 300ZXs very nearby.

I had some work done at MJP Autos, Essex. They were great.

How does anyone ever get hold of this Zen Garage in Horsham or Putney or wherever they are? I emailed them loads of times and they eventually I got hold of them once! They told me that they are doing a project and couldn't take any servicing on for the foreseable future!! I would love to be able to use them as they are quite near, but they do not seem to be very contactable. I have tried phoning them on the number they always give out on here, but it is NEVER answered! If I have left messages, they have never replied. I'm not having a go at them, I'm sure they must be very good because everone on here says they are, but how can I get my car done by them if I can never get in touch?

no idea, I've phoned , emailed and PM'd a number of times over the last 6 months trying to get work done on my car. not had a reply yet, phone was actually answered once about 4 months ago and i was told he would phone me back when they could fit me in but it might be a couple of months

Sorry guys we are victims of our own success, we are tied up at the moment either doing high bhp projects for people or repairing other garages bodge jobs.

 

We have made a mistake in taking on too many project cars and have little time for doing servicing work at the moment, we are rectifying this situation as we speak and will probably in the future only do one or two project cars a year, so we can concentrate on keeping the majority of zed owners happy. :)
