Just got back from ten of the best what a fantastic day never seen as many car in action, lots of 10 sec skylines and i belive at on the top speed run 203mph was acheived well impressed. Anyhow wasnt impressed in the car park there were abundance of evos,skylines,subarus,rx7s,cossies,dodge vipers ect ect... BUT NOT ONE 300ZX They all break down on the same day?where was evreybody? Cant belive out of 100 entries in the competion aswell no 300zx either? There was even honda crxs,corsas, and a mini clubman estate racing would of been nice to see a zed in the list.

Apart from that exellent day big thanks to kirbz for tagin along even though his sat nav was drunk

 

Most awsome car i saw was a mark 2 ford granada looking way standard badged up as a 2.8i and had hidden under its bonnet was lurking a 6.3 chevy LT1 corvette engine with supercharger and a little over 750hp.

Yeah, but tuning a Robin Relient wouldn't make it a supercar would it? Anyone who honestly thinks the Zed is a true supercar is kidding themselves. Yes you can spend £50k on one to "turn" it into a supercar. But then it would no longer be a Zed.

There's a big market in selling MKIV supra parts, so tuning shops spend a big budget on a show car and try to win whatever they can to boost sales.

 

Same with the Skylines and Imprezas/EVOS, but with the extra advantage of 4WD to make amateur circuit drivers appear fast.

 

The small Vauxhall/Ford box jobs (this includes cosworths) are usually home project cars that the owners are willing to destroy trying. They have their daily driver and their transit van for their main transport. Their cars are striped down, with aggressive power mods, brakes, stiff suspension etc etc.

 

So where does your daily driven, drive to cruise/meets, comfortable ZX's fit in with TOTB???

End of the day Zeds are not that quick to enter into something like this. Macca will be quick but still not come first in anything like this. I think its people like to think the Zed is the fastest car out there and dont like being reminded it'a NOT.

Nick It has never even crossed my mind that I could come first at TOTB,but what I can say is the car WILL make a big account of its self in the RWD class.

The gearbox let go early on in the year and through reasons beyond my control I had to miss out yet again this year:( but I am already on the case for something real special to replace it.

If things go to plan (PLEASE MAKE IT HAPPEN IN 07)I will be there with two zeds well up for the RWD class :dance:

Ian you will do awsome at TOTB :duffer: , the only point I was making was the Zed out the box is no where near supercar heights although most owners think it is for some reason.

 

When you gonna be out in Essex next anyway, about time there was a ride in the beast with my name on it! :dance:

Dont forget there is one more huckleberry out there with a 10 OTB goal for the +200 group. 07 should be ready

Think you're missing the whole point of TOTB. Most, if not all of them are modified cars, rarely any supercars enter, high performance GTs and huge-ass engined super-minis make up most of the gathering.

I dont want to win as thats a silly idea ;) all i want to do is to get a reasonable time and turn a few heads and if a few people in the supra/rx7/skyline board say jesus that was quick, didnt realise they could go that quick :)

upto 10 but i think the supra club and rx7 club only had 3 or 4 people in their teams so if we could get similar then we would have a good chance to come on the top 5 teams :)

I don't know john 600 NA HP with all that torque. + it would be listed as an NA. It would turn some heads and do a very respectable job so long as you get a good launch.

its not, as said it is a GT! in its day a very capeable GT & even today is fantastic, but a supercar it is not! who cares tho?! we all bought them for what they are, not what they are classed as :bow:

 

iv driven an SL65 AMG bi-turbo which would keep up with, if not out perform most supercars of today. its still not a car that i would class as a supercar tho. same thing really. :)

oh..oh..the supercar debate again..who cares, its just a media invented word for a car thats stupidly expensive, stupidly unreliable and stupidly horrid to drive.

 

The Zed is a Super Sports (and thats better than any "supercar").

 

Big and heavy/wallowy ? No!....well compared to a Caterham, sure, but it weighs the same as some of the fastest and most impressive "real" cars on the road and at TOTB - Skyline, Supra, M3....etc

 

The reason for the lack of Zed's at TOTB is nothing to do with the cars potential, its just unfortunatly in the UK we only have a small number of of high powered tuned Zed's. In the states or AUS its a completely different story!

 

Next year we will have some competing...maybe even I'll be there !

That's the thing though, it won't launch well with the setup I'll have. It's configured for anti squat and stability.

Not remotely bothered about turning heads, I'm only building this as a toy, as long as its fun I don't care if I get outrun by a montego.

Well there was a a few Dodge vipers at least 4,porche gt3 a corvette i belive they class as supercars and have entered almost evrey year.Porche was standard too.

Oh and here's another one to make you smile in the list of 'Fastest cars from aroud the world' the 300Zx is 101 out of 115 for a 1990 model with 156mph 0.60 in 5.6sec 0-100 in 14.5sec
