Ive just started a new hobby i hope! lol climbing. tomorrow will be my second and last part of my induction to climbing at a local indoor wall. just wondered if any others on here have an interest in this. cheers

great hobby this :bow: but it does get to your arms coming down the cast iron downpipes holding a bag of silver,dvd,s,and anything else you can snatch before ya first piss :)

i have a healthy fear of hights and thought the best way to over come it is to go climbing :rolleyes: . im going to have a few sessions before i commit to spending money out on equipment. being in dorset there are hundreds of places to explore and climb,especially around portland and swanage areas.

Here's another. My advice...........Dont let go :wack:

Been on a wall a couple of times, really go fun but ya arms get pumped real quick and feel like sticks of lead, try to keep moving hangin about only adds to the pain :)

even from a pylon to can get some cracking views! i will have to work up to the height issue first :headvswal

done a bit with the army went to alicante for 10 days once with them all paid for brilliant fun climbed the pinnyon ( cant spell the bloody thing) any 925 fookin feet

not climbed since then though

Just take it easy the guys in the white coats will be along in a minute with lots of nice drugs. ;) :D

did you ever think of taking it back up again? im trying to do it for fear conquering and fitness.

I do some climbing in the Army too. I really enjoy it but dont get to go often enough! Have you got your own harness, belay etc? I'm in Reading til mid Sept so if you wanna meet up one Saturday at a wall I'm up for it! :smash:

there is a climbing wall under alexander bridge in sunderland, its buitl in an old ship building dry dock, so you can imagine its a big fooker

 

really wanted to try it, i went rock climbing when at derwent hill in the lake district when i was at school, great fun

cool . i havent got any equipment yet as ive only just started up. what to make sure i can get over my hight thing before commiting money to the sport..but so far i love it

I've got a spare harness..... No excuse now! :eek:

cool. im going back for my test tomorrow. been trying to pratice my double fig of eight stop knot and my 5 steps to belaying.

 

wish me luck. piesoup if you can cope with a total beginner i may well be up for a 'gentle' climb ...no friging mountains just yet bud :bow:

Yeah, no probs! Will have to be at an indoor wall as I'm not qualled up for outdoors. PM'ed my mob no. I havent been in ages, would be good to get out climbing again!
