July 27, 200619 yr things you need to do are the following (in this order) a) get her serviced so you know she's in good nick b) get an aftermarket boost gauge c) get an aftermarket ecu (or eprom with socket) d) go ahead and fit either boost jets (cheap as chips [literally] but can be unstable) or a propor electric controller
July 27, 200619 yr thanx mate iv just had a full service & cam belt any idear how much that lot will cost
July 27, 200619 yr aftermarket gauge is to show how much boost you will be running as stock gauge barely goes past stock boost. probably pick one up for £20-£40 for the budget ones, up to £150 for the dog's danglies ones. fairly simple to install yourself. as for the ecu - the stock one will only map fuel up to stock boost levels [mebbe a little more] and so an aftermarket one is vital to allow for the correct fuelling when you are into double-figure PSI. the whole ecu unit is probably £200+, but it is more common to purchase an aftermarket EPROM (like JWT, or speak to John Dixon on this club), de-solder the old EPROM and then solder in a socket which will allow you to plug in the aftermarket EPROM. finally, jets cost tuppence as they are standard mig welding tips (smaller size = higher boost), 1.2mm will be about 11/12psi, 1mm will be about 13/14psi and 0.8mm will be 15/16psi (too risky on stock setup), or a propor boost controller is in the £180-£350 range.
