I was driving back with PaulG when I had to stop for petrol.

Got back on the A1 and got my foot down to catch up with him and was doing 120+ for about 3 or 4 miles on a nice smooth twisty section of road just above Ferrybridge, absolutely flying past everyone else doing 60 ish.

Looked in my mirror and saw an unmarked police volvo in the distance trying to catch up with his blue lights on :(

Slowed down to 55 ish and he stuck on my arse for a couple of miles and then turned off!

Don't know if he just hadn't got my speed or what but he was so far back I must have gone past him miles before at some silly speed.

 

What a result :D

There I think we will have to agree to dissagree, this thread is about speeding so seems to me to be the perfect place for him to say it.

How many times do you hear of a family killed cos some dick lost controle of his/her high powered car at high speeds? Lots.

Overtaking? Quite a lot. Driving along a motorway/dual-carriageway? Not so much.

The gyu is more than intitled to say what he did on here.

 

Not saying I agree or that I would say it, but why shouldnt he!

Just because we have fast cars doesn't make us all mad nutters on the public road. We all speed sometimes and do silly things with them. Sometimes we even drive them like old grannies, when the road conditions dictate. We just need to be careful out there and remeber there are others on the roads besides ourselves.

 

If we get caught braking the speed limit we only have ourselves to blame.

My car is far from standard, when I was doing 120 in the 3rd lane round bends I could safely have been doing 140 without getting near the limits of my car.

If there were other cars in my way or in the next lane I wouldn't have been doing those speeds. There were a few cars on the inside lane and it was only a short section to catch up with the other guys. Most of the trip home we were cruising at 60.

 

I do keep the high speeds to the track - Nurburgring in 8.5mins and 185+ speeds on the autobahn in Germany with the other "idiots" and all those local Germans who must be stupid too ;)

 

I've had this car 7 years and been on the forum about 5 years and as everyone on here knows, I give it some stick, but none of them have ever told me I drive too fast or in an unsafe way... :tongue:

Hi - Is that what we do in this club, brag about the speeds we get away with on public roads? I guess we all stretch the limits a bit when the conditions are right but I can't see doing 120mph on a 'smooth twisty section of road' is anything short of b****y stupid. I wonder how many of us know of families mourning the loss of relatives and friends due to the irresponsible maniacs who think the road belongs to them and have the juvenile idea that 'it will never happen to me'!

I'm supposed to be away with my wife and daughter that week. I'm not sure they'd be keen on a trek up to Scotland, or on camping for that matter. ;)

Done 2500 miles since rebuild and starting to loosen up abit now. Lighting the wheels up everywhere now. in this weather with sticky tyres. Its got more go in it than I thought it would have. Just got to remember that 130+ is a no no with roof off, but since i'm always only ever driving her on the race track I keep forgetting. Someone is going to end up with my rear screan flying towards em.

 

Gets it's first fully synthetic oil service next week so im confident she'll go anywhere now and do so for many thousands of miles.

Back to the original subject, I'm pretty sure they would have pulled you over if they had clocked you. Put yourself in their shoes, if you were a copper and managed to clock a z doing 120mph of course you would pull them over! They wouldnt put the blues on then turn them off and report you, they would do the job properly and have a proper go at you.
