Bad Day . . . Into slightly better One

My day started off Pants, but it gets better at the end.

Spent most of this morning bottming the front of my Z out on the local speed bumps around Maldon, fortunatly no visible damage, but it provided amusement for passers by. I may have to sneak back tonight and level off those bumps.

Later that day, I somehow manage to scrape the edge off my side skirt whilst negotiating a tight space in Tescos in Witham. SE quoted £40 to fix.

The highlight of my day was I got my boost put up. Sadly only 15 psi (for now!!), but now I can have fun. Even better part was putting the shits up my missus, when I floored it in 3rd. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Tooley take the piss you know you want to lol

certainly not since january lol.

Eddie, how is the car going otherwise? hope all is good and proper.

Warren,

Car's running good so far. The run back from Brum took me over the 1k miles limit (especially as I took the wrong exit and went around Coventry LOL), so I could put my foot down proper-ish. SE set the car for standard boost which is fair enough, play it safe.

Car is not so smokey now, I got the 15psi set at 17:00 and traffic was busy, so I burned up and down the bypass outside my estate, great fun. Lodsa go for now, only time will tell. What I would say was Dave (top man) the guy that set up the car, took into account I use Optimax and gave a little more ignition than usual, and also pointed out if used reguar unleaded I may get detonation (I know this and he did, but he has to say it).

Still got to arrange the Rolling road session with Pete. My agreement with him was to achieve at least 400bhp @ flywheel with this setup.

Take it easy.

Hi Eddie,

Sounds great. Is the 1k run in period for the head rebuild job or anything to do with the new boost pressure. Andy advised me to take it easy for 500. I sure as hell don't want to bugger the engine again but I'm fed up driving like a poodle although at his rate my local Total filling station is going to go out of business. 300 miles and the light is still not on. I'll get the urge to wear a flat cap and only drive on Sundays at this rate.

I was also told by SE that 500 miles was sufficient run in and that was following a head and bottom end rebuild and new turbos.

Hi Chaps,

I managed to get an official SE running in period print out roughly it advises the following: -

0 - 200 miles 3000rpm - no boost

200 - 500 miles 4000rpm - avoid boost where possible

500 - 1000 miles 4500rpm - low (std) boost

Just to be safe I kept just below these limits, I had done 1100 miles when Dave set the boost anyway. Also was checking oil and water daily as well.

Back at work now so will have to wait till weekend for some serious fun although my 200sx which I use for work can provide plenty of that. Wotch out anyone in Maldon this weekend!! biggrin.gif
