Limiters suck

I met up with a few friends last night that i used to 'boy race' with about 8 years ago so we all went for a little cruise together i took great pleasure in out accelerating an astra 2.2 cabriolet, celica gt4, pulsar gti-r, clio 16v and some overpowered civic thing but as we turned onto the M69 i knew my days were numbered, one by one they dissappeared into the distance and i arrived in Hinckley a full 3 minuites behind them. The sooner i get the bloody thing chipped the better. Then again i'd be able to afford it a hell of a lot quicker if i did'nt waste all my money on petrol driving about all the time!

Get it chipped asap my friend! Don't balls about with these promised de-limiter gadgets that some companies will rip you off with! CHIP IT!

JWT or SE??? I would recommend the SE over the JWT as I have both...so I can say that with confidence and experience! LOL biggrin.gif

What is the difference between jwt and se then?

P.S do you know anything about wheel bearings?

JWT is setup for Yank fuelling, SE chip outperforms it by a good 30 bhp and safely.

AndyP has the dyno print outs from the rolling road session a while back. He ran both chips back-to-back and was pleasantly surprised with the result. Drop him a mail! wink.gif

I had my ECU socketed at SE while my car was in for a rebuild. Pete chucked in an SE chip which was amazing to say the least!!!

Andy then replaced my SE chip with the JWT and man the car was ARSE!

I then changed back to the SE chip and the JWT chip is sat in the glove box. Always nice to have a backup...LOL biggrin.gif

Wheel bearings? Yep, had one go on my Saab T16S and on my Merc, what you wanna know bud???

If a wheel bearing is knackered would it sound like youve got a jet plane taking off in your boot cos ive got this noise and its driving me up the wall, just hoping for a cheap problem not a gearbox/diff expensive problem!

Well how I was shown was by getting the car up on a lift, then spinning the wheels and putting a finger on the shock. If you can feel vibration through the shock it's a wheel bearing! wink.gif

You tend to notice it most when stearing. Nastey noise make no mistake! wink.gif

If you leave it unattended or checked for too long then it will seize. I had a mate that happened to and trust me...you don't wanna get that far!

Could be me old fruit bat, when mine went on the Saab and the Merc it sounded bloody awful. Similar to what you have described, take it into ATS or Shit Fit etc. They should be able to diagnose it for ya. ATS pin pointed mine but that was on the front of the Merc.

Blue is SE, red is JWT

The torque was impressive too, but I can find that scan right now.

b19rks,

Timmy is correct saying that chipping is the best option. However, if you don't want to do that yet, or if the insurance is an issue, I have an SLD (Speed Limit Defencer) that I'm about to take off my car as I've installed a chip. It will remove the top speed limiter.

£20 if you're interested.

Andy why did you get that drop off at 5500rpm?

and what boost was that at. both runs?

plus is the jwt chip not mapped for american fuel?

Firstly, don't know, this is the first time the car had been on a dyno and there are probably a number of things that could be fine tuned, as you know we didn't have time for that on the day with so many people there.

Boost was about 11.5psi and yes the JWT is probably set-up for US fuel but this is not the California version. This chip was purchased for use in the UK and therefore should be suitable for UK fuel too.

Now found the torque curve too. Red is calibration/test run with the JWT, blue JWT proper and red SE

Wow andy torque is super impresive dude.

lol mine is not even on the scale yet at those figures lol.

it must be very drivable, but it tails down a hell of a lot at the top end.

Just an observation. could this be because of the conversion? ie the grearing?

very impresive by the way.

These are the graphs from the dyno day over at Kings Langley, so this is with the old auto box. I would expect with the manual to see a higher BHP figure because it doesn't soak up as much power as an auto. I'm looking for somewhere for another dyno run, but unfortunately your mates at Kings Langley seem to have gone out of business.

They have split up the company, my bud went back to South Africa as he has to much work over there at the moment, Nissan SA have contracted him to map the race cars.
