I think someone got the answer right when they said 4 less than Thursday or 4 more than thuesday.

 

If the puzzle told us what day the week started then it would be a lot easier to work out, but since it doesn't then there is no way of knowing.

115 + 111 + 107 + 103 + 99 + 95 + 91 = 720 total for the week :headvswal :rofl:

indain zx, here's how i did it:

 

you know he got a certain amount on monday and then 4 more each day, and you know that the total for the week was 115. if you call the number he got on monday x then you can do this equation

 

mon = x

tue = x + 4

wed = x + 8

thu = x + 12

fri = x = 16

 

mon + tue + wed + thu + fri = 115

 

x + x + 4 + x + 8 + x + 12 + x + 16 = 115

therefore...

5x + 40 = 115

and so...

5x = 75

so...

x = 25

 

on wednesday he got x + 8 (25 + 8) which makes 32

 

i always knew my maths a-level would come in handy one day ;-)

 

You almost got it except for a couple of 'deliberate' :) errors, so do that 'A' level again:

 

If 5x = 75 then x = 15 (not 25)

 

15 + 8 = 23 (and in any case 25 + 8 = 33 not 32)

 

good formula though.
