total: 7X + 84 = 115

 

thereby:

 

7X = 115 - 84 = 31

 

X = 31 divided by 7 = 4.42857

 

Thereby Wed = 4.42857 + 8 = 12.42857 ????

 

Unless the total was supposed to be 112 not 115 in which case it'd be a straight 4 emails for X

 

Otherwise if we're talking a 5 day business week then the answer is 23

you know he got a certain amount on monday and then 4 more each day, and you know that the total for the week was 115. if you call the number he got on monday x then you can do this equation

 

mon = x

tue = x + 4

wed = x + 8

thu = x + 12

fri = x = 16

 

mon + tue + wed + thu + fri = 115

 

x + x + 4 + x + 8 + x + 12 + x + 16 = 115

therefore...

5x + 40 = 115

and so...

5x = 75

so...

x = 25

If it's from monday then 12

I'm sticking with my answer of 23 and its a five day week starting monday otherwise the first day the person gets 4.48 emails which just doesn't sound right
