I have just received an e-mail saying that there have been complaints about my username, this is a nickname that I have had for many years and I have never come across a single person that was offended by it!

To clarify the reason for this, my name is Andrew Peacock (hello) which if shortened to Drew, which many people do, becomes Drew Peacock....see! The pimp part was added somewhere along the lines and has nothing to do with my profession, I'm actually a financial adviser.

I was just surprised to see this e-mail and to be honest I resent having to change.....opinions please!

no problems here!

ah sod em, if they have a problem that's their issue silly people :D

Could be worse, if it were something like "ISHAGKIDS" or "GRANNYKILLER" i could understand

I think with the onslaught of stupid new members just coming on to cause havock and the like slagging off our cars and generally just being idiots with funny even stupid usernames your name was seen to be one of those. Being as this is of course a sometimes family based forum and your name is visable to all the fact that it says "Droopycock" is offensive to young ones viewing. I was one of those who complained as my mates daughter saw it and he was annoyed that the club allowed sexually suggestive names on an open to all forum. Thats why. I never used it as a personal attack and I am sorry if you are offended but so was I and I think you could change it to a more suitable name without too much hassle and everyone would be happy. All of course IMO.

Sorry mate and I do have a sence of humour but also I have children about the house and I dont think its necessary. As I siad "Nothing personal" if you or these others cant see my point then maybe I;m in the wrong place?

Don't worry about it mate there are tons of weirdo's and easily offended PC people on here, you will get used to it.

Personnaly Ihave no problem but I can see the problem of kids on the forum but then Kids should be supervised and not left to roam all over the site. This from a Child Minder. If people don't want their kids to see things then they should use the off button. Parental control means just that. I get very cross with parents who expect everyone else to do their job for them.

Carry on mate this is not a children's site, as such and parents have to decide what their kids have access to. Therefore it's not your problem.

I don't personally find it offensive, actually it is quite tame, next my avatar will scare someone!

I will say this. OK yes kids should be supervised but thats the point. You cant stop them seeing a username. you could say "No you cant read that thread" but the name is there for all to see as soon as you log on if the person namely pimpdroopycock has posted. A staement from a 9 year old girl saying "Look this person is called droopy cock" is not on.

Part of the supervision is to check what's on the blasted screen before you let a 9 year old on to view. This site as far as I am aware is not run for kids, and I for one do not want to think everytime I post oh is there going to be kids on today thank you.

i dont find it offensive /but i can see where vinniboy is coming from

No problems here...IMO if you don't want the kids to see it, then don't let them on the site...There are a lot of things on this site that are not suitable for kids, i.e. the language sometimes, hence the reason I don't let my son on the site.

How far do we go...jeez, I even had someone complain about my sig...and not even a woman ffs!!!

If said 9 year old was introduced to Drew Peacock away from a message board would you ask him to change his name by deed poll if she said the above?

It's like being called "Philip Micheal Hunt" as someone I know was, you just have to embrace it for what it is.

I suppose if someone was offended they could always add you to their "Ignore List", that way they would avoid their sensibilities from being offended without causing yours to be offended by reporting you to the admin staff.

Just a suggestion.

i personally dont find it offensive

but i think Vinny as a PAYING member had an issue and went about it the RIGHT way, and the high horses now appear

to be honest i find some of the utter drivel more offensive but hey thats me :nelson:

i think there have been worse things on this forum over the past few months than that fellas user name, personally i would keep it.As letsdrift said its not a kids club... and not many kids own 300zx's,as said before, parental control...its simple.

As i said before the content of a thread is different to a username. and FFS dont be so stupid. Drew peacock is drew peacock. droopycock is droopycock. that was a very bad example and holds no water imo. you are just picking a fight and a better oponent you could never have picked.

As billy said I went through the proper channels and told a mod during a telephone conversation with him and he totally agreed with me and said that he had noticed it before and was going to have a word. So there you have it. It aint just me that thinks its wrong. just im the only one so far big enough to let the bloke know who said it rather than hide behind a computer screen like a lot of you do.

As for kids being on the site I know quite a few people on here have children that visit the site and why not? most of the newer members act like kids anyway. lets see if anyone else thinks the same as me. If not I will stand corrected and do one.

Heat got to you a bit? Drew Peacock is his given name, that was my point. It might not be a valid one to your way of thinking but it is relevant.

Oh and is heaven forbid I have kids I'd not let them on somewhere like this, it's all friendly but quite a lot is adult banter with very thinly vieled innuendo, I'd suggest not letting her look at the "Ronaldo apoligises" thread vini, that'd take some explaining :wack:

While it does'nt personally offend me and I find it quite comical....I agree completely with Vini and his points are very valid.

The origin of the username may well be made up from your own name, but there is no denying the way its spelling is adapted is to form a less innocent meaning.

My daughter will also sit by me and look at the forum with me, it might not be the cbeebies website but it is not and should not be restriced to adult audiences. The Club AUP enforces this.

Its easy to avoid certain threads when needs be..its not easy to avoid others usernames.

OK OK you have had your fun. Speed demon publically making me out to be a fool? well thanks pal you have always had too much to say for yourself. I cant wait to meet you mate. that was totally out of order. I admitted to the bloke that I didnt like he's name. You lot wouldnt have the balls to do so yet you take the piss and mock me for doing so?
